Expanding Horizons and Expanding Resources

As educators of young children and their families we have an enormous responsibility to educate ourselves and colleagues about the ever changing ideas and values that are present in today's society as well as the past leanings in our field. In this week's blog assignment I focused on the mission and perspective of the World Forum Foundation. The World Forum Foundation mission is"promote an on-going global exchange of ideas on the delivery of quality services for young children in diverse setting, "(world forum.Org). The foundation have a set of core values that focus on children, change, relationships, differences and the spirit of worthiness. There are many different ways that they promote togetherness and the global well being of children and their families. The foundation gathers advocates and early childhood professionals fro 80 countries from around the world together to
to share inspiration and information on issues impacting children and families worldwide.
The leaders and childhood professionals participate in workshops and leadership training that will help them become equipped to teach and lead children, their families and society as a whole.
The resource program that I chose was NHSA which is the National Head Start Association. The reason for my choice is that I attended the program as a child and I just started working as a lead teacher this school year. Head Start works and focuses on the education of the child as well as the entire families. They provide medical help as well as social services such as speech, occupational therapies as well as education and job opportunities for the parents and caregivers of the children in the program. They believe that every child should have the same opportunity of learning and having a quality early childhood education despite their background or environment they live in. Head Start also supports their teachers by providing them with training and resources to better
their educational careers and offer room for advancement within the Head Start Association Program.

  1. I love how you were a child of Head Start and now you too are working there. It must feel rather rewarding to help others the way that you were once helped. I would love the opportunity to work where I went to school as a child. Talk about full circle! :)
